Budget Matters
I will reduce the Sheriff's Office Budget.
- Based on limited information on the demographics (Family makeup) of the Sheriff's Office, and solely based on the number of employees, I can produce savings to tax payers and employees to upwards of $200 per month per SINGLE enrollment. Family enrollment savings is slightly higher. The annual savings based on SINGLE only participation will be approximately $800,000 yearly. The SINGLE only figures are assuming ALL employees enroll under the Single plan.
- My cost saving initiatives concerning Health Care will significantly lower the employees monthly cost increasing their disposable income for their family.
- I will change the DENTAL Program that will provide an additional saving to our tax payers.
- The NET results of these changes could be as high as $1,000,000 dollars. The return to the citizens of Okaloosa County would be in the form of reduced property taxes.
- I've developed a pay scale that is fair and equitable, in comparison, to other Sheriff Offices across the state. The standards are in line with the Florida Standards of Pay for employees.
Please review this page PAY.
- This below chart depicts the salary of all employees within the Sheriff's Office as of January 2010 -- Salary.
- The Sheriff's Office has been plagued with expensive, unneccessary purchasing of vehicles. There have been various OFFICIALS that have stated the Sheriff's Office has always used the State Bid Program to purchase vehicles. Please review this (Vehicles) to see if it is true.
