Let me be absolutely candid; I will replace the current administration. The current administration has gotten so COMFORTABLE with their surroundings that it is evident their interests in providing quality services has come and gone. Specifically, Ashley boasts about Spooner and he cutting the budget by $2,000,000. But, what he didn't say is how it was done. So let me fill in the blanks for you. The cuts made from the budget has come at the cost of sworn Deputies being forced to take 8 hours a month off without pay. What this mean is we have less Deputies on the road at various times each month. Ashley further boast that the cut doesn't affect Police Services provided. Picture this, a shift of 7 Deputies with one Deputy on leave and another is out sick. So now for that shift we're down to 5 Deputies on the road. However, the other 5 Deputies who haven't missed a day during that month now must MANDATORILY take 8 hours off. Obviously, it does affect Police Services and he's just not smart enough to see the big picture. During my 2008 Campaign, I told you I could not only cut the budget by $2,000,000 the moment I stepped into the Office, but I could quickly and efficiently help the County Commissioners reduce their envisioned $8 - $10 million dollar deficit without affecting services.

I recently attended a meeting at the North Okaloosa Republican Club, and spoke of my analytical evaluation of the Sheriff's Office Budget from 2008, and where my allegiance is. We were asked one question by the reigning President concerning what attributes do you have you could bring to the Office of Sheriff (paraphased). Of course, I spoke of allegiance, honesty and integrity. Ashley stated, "I didn't talk about cutting the budget by $2,000,000, I did it." He continued stating that his concern is for the tax-payer first and employees second. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to confront him on his statement as the members of the Club didn't want this to be a contested forum as that will come later.  Since I didn't get a chance to say it at that time, let me say it now. You're welcome!!! I identified the exuberant expenditures of the administration you are apart of. Also, if your concern was for the tax-payer, then answer me this, how did you receive a salary, and at the same time, receive PERFORMANCE bonuses? Also, specifically, what were the PERFORMANCE bonuses for...setting up Golfing Events? Yea, I see how your concern is for tax-payers!!! Here's the real kicker, Larry Ashley stated he will continue the performance bonuses regardless!!!
